FocusWriter is “tipware.” What that means is when you download, you will be asked how much you think it’s worth to you, from $0.00 to $20.00, and you can pay the amount you think is right. Write might be a good choice for the Android user who wants a Ulysses-like text editor that gets out of your way when you write, as long as you don’t need the organizational features. With the very minimal formatting options, any output files should be easy to clean up if they need any clean up at all. As with any other export, it is good practice to review the output just to make sure it looks how you think it should. Write also offers the ability to share notes as text files, so sending your notes via email with Markdown formatting intact may be a good alternative to HTML export. There is another method that may be even simpler. Since Word, OpenOffice, and Pages can open HTML files this should not be a big issue if you need to export your notes to Word and so forth. This makes Write a pretty good tool for focused web-bound writing. Write does offer the ability to activate notes as being Markdown instead of Text, much as Ulysses sheets can use MultiMarkdown.Īlso, Write only offers one true export format: HTML. Also, unlike Storyist or Scrivener Write does not offer large-scale text formatting capability or Styles. If you need that kind of organization you may want to look for another tool (I will list a couple of other alternates at the end).
